Overview

LifeOS is a household coordination app built by Jasmine and Dominick — two parents who wanted something better than a shared Google calendar and a notes app. We take privacy seriously because we use this app ourselves, with our own kids' schedules and our own family's data inside it.

This policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and what rights you have over it. We've written it in plain language intentionally. If something is unclear, email us and we'll explain it.

The short version: We collect only what's needed to run the app. We don't sell your data. We don't use it for advertising. We make money from your subscription — that's it. Your family's information belongs to your family.
02

03

How we use it

We use your information to run LifeOS and make it better. Specifically:

  • Providing the core app features — calendar, lists, meal planning, milestones, real-time sync across your household
  • Sending you notifications you've opted into (event reminders, meal prep pings, task assignments)
  • Sending transactional emails (account confirmation, password reset, subscription receipts)
  • Diagnosing bugs and crashes
  • Improving the product based on anonymized usage patterns
  • Communicating with you about your account or the beta program

We do not use your data to train AI models, build advertising profiles, or sell insights to third parties.

04

How we store it

Your data is stored on encrypted servers. We use industry-standard encryption in transit (TLS) and at rest. Access to production data is restricted to the founding team and only when necessary to diagnose a specific problem.

We retain your data for as long as your account is active. If you delete your account, we delete your household's data within 30 days, except where we're required to retain records for legal or financial compliance (such as payment records, which are held for 7 years).

Data deletion on request: If you want your data deleted before account closure, email privacy@familyos.app and we'll process the deletion within 24 hours and confirm when it's done.
05

Who we share with

We do not sell your data. We do not share it with advertisers. The only parties who may access your data are:

  • Infrastructure providers — the cloud services that host the app (e.g. Supabase for the database, Vercel for hosting). These providers are contractually bound to handle your data only as instructed by us and never for their own purposes.
  • Payment processors — if you subscribe, your payment is handled by a third-party processor (such as Stripe). We never see or store your full card number. The processor is subject to their own privacy policy.
  • Legal requirements — if we receive a valid legal order requiring disclosure, we will comply and will notify you to the extent permitted by law.

We do not integrate with data brokers, advertising networks, or analytics platforms that monetize user behavior.

06

Children's privacy

LifeOS is designed for use by adults managing a household. Children can be added as household members — their names, date of birth, and assigned events or tasks may be stored in the app — but children do not create accounts or interact with the app directly. All household data is managed by the adult account holder(s).

We do not knowingly collect personal information directly from children under 13. If you believe we have inadvertently collected such information, contact us at privacy@familyos.app and we will delete it promptly.

LifeOS is designed to comply with the Children's Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA). Parents and guardians control all data entered about their children and may request deletion at any time.

07

Your rights

You have the following rights over your data, regardless of where you live:

  • Access — you can request a copy of all data we hold about your household
  • Correction — you can correct inaccurate data at any time directly in the app
  • Deletion — you can delete your account and all associated data
  • Portability — you can request an export of your household data in a machine-readable format
  • Objection — you can opt out of any non-essential communications at any time

If you are located in California, the European Union, or another jurisdiction with specific data protection laws, additional rights may apply. Contact us to exercise any of these rights.

08

Beta period notice

LifeOS is currently in a private beta. During this period, the founding team may review anonymized usage patterns more closely than we would post-launch — this helps us find bugs and prioritize improvements. We will never read the specific content of your family's data (your grocery lists, your calendar events, your kids' names) without your explicit permission and a specific support reason.

Beta participants may receive more frequent emails from us as we gather feedback. You can opt out of research communications at any time without losing access to the app.

This privacy policy will be updated before the public launch to reflect any changes in data practices. We'll notify all beta participants of material changes by email before they take effect.

09

Contact us

Questions about this policy, your data, or anything privacy-related — reach out directly. We're a two-person team; you'll hear back from one of us, not a support bot.
